Not Enough Hours in the Day

This is how I’ve felt for years. I’m self-employed, have a husband, a home to keep and two teenage sons, whom keeping fed is a full-time job in itself. I was trying to do it all and do it perfectly. By the evening, I’d drop into bed, exhausted. Too tired to spend any time on myself.

My body began to rebel. I had suffered from migraines and hormonal issues for years. Then I developed food allergies and antihistamine issues related to perimenopause. To add to the fun of my digestive issues, fatigue, moods swings and brain fog set in. I felt like my health was out of my control and didn’t know who could help me.

In the end, it was me that helped me. I took a moment to look inside and decided to slow down. I started to pay attention to what my physical and emotional pain was trying to tell me. I decided to finally follow my passion and started to study a Master’s degree in Health and Wellness Coaching. As I studied nutrition, I revamped how I ate. I cut out gluten and sugar and watched my migraines become less frequent. I started moving my body through walking and stretching. I got into a daily meditation and mindfulness routine, which I can truly say changed my life.

When the pandemic quarantine hit, I finally had extra time on my hands. I set up a strict schedule of self-care. The quiet of the early mornings are my favorite time of the day. I take my coffee outside and sit in my garden with my cats. I soak in the green of the trees and take a moment to be grateful for the day. I do whatever I feel like doing because it’s my time.

Meditation, yoga, journaling, and tending to my garden are my self-care foundation. Dedicating this time to me, each day, is my gift to my health and well-being. I’m able to stick to this routine because I know how I feel when I don’t do it, and I don’t want to feel like that anymore.

If you can relate to my story and are ready to take control of your health and wellness, please book a free discovery call with me. There will be no judgement, just a kind, empathetic ear ready to hear your story and help you move forward on your wellness journey.
